Autoharp Workshop Day Visit

Mike's Workshop Day Visits to schools with his impressive battery of Autoharps are an ideal way for both children and staff to discover the potential this lovely string instrument has in music education. If you still think of the Autoharp as just a novelty device for producing simple automated chord accompaniment you are in for a surprise!

Ex-headteacher Mike will show that some beautiful and powerful music can be effected on it, and there's a great deal of challenge and a lot of fun to be had. There is a place for at least one good quality Autoharp in the music stock of every school.

This is Mike's most popular programme, offering concerts and workshops for ALL children and staff. In-service work is provided for teachers at no extra charge. Please follow the link on the left for a full sample programme.

Autoharp Concert Visit A fun-packed educative programme suitable for all children within the 3-13 age range. Details the complete history of the Autoharp where appropriate but includes use of other popular folk instruments such as jawharp, harmonica, pickin' bow, 5-string banjo and resonator guitar.

Christmas Concert

Well-known and less-heard carols and novelties in a variety of settings with unique arrangements, including jawharp, diatonic autoharp and mountain dulcimer.

Harvest Concert

A singalong programme of harvest songs, especially suitable for infant and first schools where harvest celebrations are an important part of the Autumn term.

Staff In-Service Autoharp Day

A unique day's music experience for teachers, demonstrating the potential this beautiful instrument has for school use. Great for failed triangle players and music specialists alike! Mike is also available for residential and weekend teachers' courses and can work with up to 32 teachers and provide an Autoharp each.

Combined Autoharp Workshop Day / Parents & Children Singalong Evening A Family Evening is an ideal event for schools with a strong family atmosphere, active PTA, used to putting on social functions. Many of the day's music activities are carried over to the evening for the parents with children forming an 'Autoharp Band' (The Safety In Numbers String Band!). A unique shared day and evening of music ~ excellent family entertainment.
